The delayed launch of the new HomePod with smart display is said to be due to software development issues.
Apple is tipped to launch a new HomePod with smart home display in late 2025.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims the next-generation smart speaker will launch after WWDC 2025 in Q3 2025. Kuo says the multiple delays are due to software development.
Kuo wrote about the new HomePod in March 2023 and shared that it has a 7-inch display. In October 2023, an image of the rumoured HomePod prototype with an LCD display leaked. The display is described as being able to show animations based on the colours of the album art of the song, and could potentially be used to answer and take video phone calls and reply messages.
Earlier this year, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg stated that the earliest possible launch for the new HomePod would be sometime in 2025. This new HomePod is rumoured to be powered by the A18 chip, has a squarish display, and a built-in camera for video conferencing.
Together with the smart home IP camera that Apple is believed to be working on, Kuo predicts that the two new smart home products will augment the existing HomeKit ecosystem and deliver a more holistic smart home experience.
