HWZ's top TikTok short videos in 2024

Yet another year has come and gone, all in the blink of an eye, so it’s time again for our annual throwback to HardwareZone’s top content of 2024.

In this article, we’re looking at our 10 most-viewed TikTok short videos in 2024. Thank you all for making HWZ the leading online technology portal in Asia Pacific, and for all the support we’ve received. Here’s our 2024 Year in review, as we bid goodbye to 2024 and welcome 2025.

1. iPhone 16 Pro Desert Titanium first look

Unsurprisingly, our most viewed TikTok in 2024 was our hands-on with the iPhone 16 Pro in the new Desert Titanium colourway. It’s a colour that’s hard to capture on camera, but it’s stunning in real life and thanks to the opportunity to cover Apple’s keynote in person, we were able to capture this footage for our viewers.

And if the iPhone 16 series tempt you, here are some articles to check out:-

2. Real-time call translation with Galaxy AI

Language is usually the biggest barrier when travelling to foreign countries, as it can be difficult to make reservations or ask for directions. Samsung has solved that with real-time translations on phone calls using Galaxy AI. You need to have a compatible and updated Galaxy smartphone or tablet, and the feature will be available even if the person on the other end uses a smartphone from a different brand. It’s pretty cool.

3. New super-thin iPad Pro

How thin can it really be? Apple shows us with their newest, super thin iPad Pros while packing in the new M4 chip and a new Ultra Retina XDR screen. It got tons of views because people were really on the lookout for these high-powered tablets.

If the thinness of the new iPad Pro has sold you on it, check out our review here.

4. Samsung Live Translate, optimised for Galaxy Z Flip6’s dual screens

Samsung’s Live Translate feature has certainly been well-received online, seeing as both of our videos had enough views to be within our top 5 most-viewed TikTok videos in 2024. In this version, we showcased the feature working on the Galaxy Z Flip6’s dual screens (instead of a phone call), making it easy for both parties to see the translation during a back-and-forth conversation.

5. Arguing with AI-powered NPCs about ramen

AI is clearly one of the hottest topics, as seen by multiple videos about it making their way onto our top 10 list. This time around, it’s a little more eccentric since it showcases a typically linear NPC (non-player character) who ended up giving pretty on-point responses, thanks to AI. This opens up doors to more immersive experiences in games and such, which means we could see less repetitive dialogue from video games in the future. We might even be able to ask that guard to tell us more about how he took an arrow to the knee.

Find out more about technology from NVIDIA that has made this possible, as well as the first multiplayer game that will debut with AI-powered NPC characters.

6.  Adobe’s AI-powered video restoration

Sometimes, we get the perfect video, but it’s ruined by overexposure, thanks to fireworks or sudden lights. It’s fixable, but it takes time, and who would ever say no to a quicker method? Adobe showcased Project Clean Machine at the Adobe Max conference this year, enabling the fast removal of flashes in video and the removal of objects temporarily obstructing the camera. Imagine all the time saved during editing.

7. Samsung’s AI Vision cameras in fridges

Prone to overbuying groceries and never using them until they expire because you forgot? Samsung’s Vision AI technology uses built-in cameras in fridges and AI technology to identify up to 33 types of fresh food items and tag expiration dates to them. The fridge can even offer recipes based on items that will expire soon, so you can use them up instead of leaving them to go to waste.

8. Razer razor

We always watch for Razer’s prank announcements during April Fools’ Day since the company’s non-existent products, like the Razer toaster, are usually quite funny. This time around, one of those products made it to market: the Razer razor, announced in 2023, is finally on shelves thanks to a collaboration with Gillette.

9. Play games to help improve your sex life

This interesting-looking device is called the Myhixel Control, and it’s a training/stimulation device that’s supposed to help men learn how to control their muscles and stamina, resulting in longer and better intimate encounters. It’s an interesting idea, with the device connecting to a smartphone app for an 8-week-long programme with gamification elements to make it fun. We don’t think the app is needed to entice people to buy this, though.

10. Fancy LED lights on the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro

The thin LED light strips on the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro stems are pretty cool. These Blade Lights have a cyberpunk aesthetic, which could explain why so many people viewed our hands-on video. The device also comes with cool Galaxy AI features, and the sound quality is improved from its predecessor.
