After years of delays, lossless audio has finally arrived on Spotify Premium!
In a note, Spotify confirmed that the feature has begun rolling out to Premium subscribers in select markets.
For now, lossless on Spotify goes to Australia, Austria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, the US, and the UK. Afterwards, its availability will expand to more than 50 markets by October.
How do I know if my Spotify Premium comes with lossless audio?
Existing Spotify Premium users will receive an in-app notification once lossless audio is available.
To enable it, go to Profile (top left) > Settings & Privacy > Media Quality > Lossless.
With Lossless on Spotify Premium, users can stream music in up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC across mobile, desktop, tablet and Spotify Connect-enabled devices from Sony, Bose, Samsung, Sennheiser and others.
Support for additional devices, including those from Sonos and Amazon, is expected next month.
For the best experience, Spotify recommends streaming over Wi-Fi and using wired headphones or speakers on a non-Bluetooth connection.
The long-awaited feature comes four years after Spotify first announced its plans for lossless audio. A moderator confirmed delays in 2022, while subsequent reports suggested Spotify was considering a new premium tier with region-based pricing. Fortunately, Spotify rolled out lossless audio at no additional cost, bringing it in line with Apple Music.
