Spotify tipped to launch new premium tier with HiFi audio

Spotify is said to be launching a more expensive subscription tier with HiFi audio later this year.

Spotify is reportedly launching its most expensive subscription tier later this year.

People familiar with the matter told Bloomberg that Spotify is launching a new premium tier, known internally as "Supremium" that supports high-fidelity (HiFi) audio. Not surprisingly, this new tier would become Spotify's most expensive subscription tier.

Spotify initially planned to offer HiFi audio in 2021, but the launch was delayed for unknown reasons. Spotify currently offers four subscription premium tiers: Individual at $9.90/mth, Duo at $12.98/mth, Family at $16.98/mth, and Student at $4.99/mth.

Apple Music has been offering Lossless audio since 2021 and does not charge customers extra to access it. You can read up on Apple Music Lossless in this article.
