The Nintendo Switch 2 is (allegedly) set to be revealed on 16 January
Rumours say the initial announcement might focus more on hardware and less on the games, however.

Nintendo Switch 2 leaks have been ramping up over the past few weeks. We've previously reported on renders for the re-designed Switch successor (whatever Nintendo decides to name it), as well as how a potential 2024 announcement was delayed.
However, new rumours have popped up stating that the Switch 2 is set to be revealed on 16 January, this week.
This rumour comes from leaker NateTheHate, a fairly reliable leaker who, in a video, stated that the announcement will remain mostly hardware-focused. According to his sources, there will be no direct mention of new games in the reveal, although he notes that footage from unreleased games might be shown without naming them. He also stated that the Switch 2 is slated to be released sometime in May or June of this year.
This is corroborated by a report from VGC, which has information from its own sources matching what NateTheHate stated in his video. It also matches the general pattern of the original Switch's announcement, which saw a reveal trailer all the way back in 2016 that focused mainly on hardware features while being light on the launch games. Tom Warren, Senior Editor at the Verge, also backs up a potential Switch 2 reveal this week:
For what it's worth, Nintendo has commented on some of the leaks, calling a mockup that was circulating at CES 2025 "unofficial" (according to IGN). It's also worth noting that President of Nintendo Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed a Switch 2 announcement "within this fiscal year", back in May of 2024.
