G2 Esports has secured their third trophy of the year with a commanding 3-0 sweep over Team Spirit at the Blast Premier World final 2024 in Singapore. With this win, they claim the lion's share of the US$1,000,000, prize pool taking home US$500,000. The event is a historic one marking the first top-tier CS tournament in Southeast Asia, playing in front of an electrifying crowd of nearly 10,000 at Singapore’s Resorts World Convention Centre.

Starting on the opening map of Mirage, despite Spirit taking an early 2-0 lead and maintaining control through the first half with a 7-5 advantage, G2's CT side proved insurmountable. In a defensive masterclass, G2 won eight consecutive rounds to close out the map 13-7. This is when Spirit's T-side struggles became apparent as they failed to find answers against G2's lockdown defence on Mirage.

The dominance continued on Spirit’s map pick, Anubis, where G2 delivered an even more convincing victory. After trading early rounds, G2 established control with a solid T-side performance, leading 7-5 at halftime. That was all Spirit could muster as the second half mirrored Mirage’s pattern, with G2 posting yet another flawless CT side to secure a commanding 13-5 victory.

The third and final map of the series, Dust2, saw G2 maintain their momentum with an explosive 6-1 start on the T side with huNter- and m0NESY at the top of the scoreboard. On the flip side, the entirety of Team Spirit struggled to find their footing. Despite the occasional resistance from Donk, who managed to win his battle against NiKo going 10-9 in head-to-head matchups, G2 closed out the map and series with a comfortable 13-7 scoreline.

The victory will be particularly helpful for G2, who bounced back strongly from their disastrous showing at IEM Rio. The leading performer for the European squad was unsurprisingly m0NESY with a 1.45 rating and alongside him was the other Kovac cousin in huNter with a 1.42 rating. Both were able to post 52-kill performances across the three maps while on the other side, Spirit's usually reliable star AWPer sh1ro struggled to make an impact, finishing with a 0.77 rating.

Throughout the series, the Singapore crowd proved to be firmly in G2's corner, with m0NESY drawing most of the cheers from the packed convention centre. The atmosphere seemed to energise G2 while potentially adding to Spirit's mental challenges – a factor that has grown more significant given the teams' history against G2. Spirit's zont1x later admitted in a post-match interview that the team already struggled mentally against G2, and with the crowd heavily favouring their opponents, it would likely only add salt to their wounds.

All in all, the victory for G2 sets them up perfectly for their upcoming Shanghai Major campaign, while Spirit heads home with US$250,000 as consolation and plenty to work on, particularly regarding their T-side executions, which yielded just three rounds across the entire series.
