CD Projekt Red’s epic sci-fi RPG, Cyberpunk 2077, is finally making its way to Apple devices in 2025 – specificially Macs with Apple silicon including the new iMac, Mac mini and MacBook Pro powered by the M4 family of chips.
The game will arrive as the Ultimate Edition, which includes the critically-acclaimed Phantom Liberty expansion (read our review here). Mac gamers can expect advanced graphics capabilities, including path tracing and frame generation, alongside built-in Spatial Audio support. CD Projekt Red promises an immersive experience that takes full advantage of Apple's proprietary Metal technologies and silicon hardware.
For those who already own the game, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that players who have purchased Cyberpunk 2077 on Steam for PC will be able to carry over their existing purchase to the Mac version. The game will also be available on the Mac App Store. Details of hardware requirements are still scarce at this point, and it's not yet clear whether this includes older M1 chips or just the newer iterations. My guess is a “no” considering how Cyberpunk 2077 on PC requires a beefy system to get it up to decent speed.
The arrival of Cyberpunk 2077 on Mac comes on the heels of other high-profile PC titles (Death Stranding, Resident Evil series and Assassin’s Creed Mirage) making the transition to Apple devices. Traditionally, Mac gaming has lagged well behind Windows PCs, largely due to hardware and software limitations. But it looks like Apple is finally taking gaming more seriously, now that it has total control of its own silicon and is able to fully fully optimise those power with its own operating systems.
