Gamescom 2024 has arrived! The event, hosted by Geoff Keighley was packed with exciting news and reveals about upcoming games. From the announcement of anticipated sequels such as Borderlands 4 to gameplay showcases such as Sid Meier's Civilization VII, there was something for everyone.

If you missed the live broadcast, don’t worry. Here’s a quick summary of the major announcements from the two-and-a-half-hour-ish-long video

Kicking off the slew of announcements is Borderlands 4. Developer Gearbox has confirmed that Borderlands 4 will be coming in 2025. The trailer was mostly CG and didn’t show any actual gameplay but the description in the trailer had this to say:

“In this next instalment of the definitive looter shooter, players will assume the role of a legendary Vault Hunter as they blast their way through hordes of enemies in search of new treasures to loot on an all-new planet.”

Take the statement as you may, but fingers crossed that the game doesn’t fall flat like it did in the recent movie.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 made a splash at Gamescom with a preview of its single-player campaign. Set in the early 1990s, the campaign explores the aftermath of the Cold War and interestingly, touches on the Gulf War too

The showcased mission, called Most Wanted, offered a glimpse into the game's action-packed gameplay. While the beginning of the trailer focused on a more cinematic approach, with camera work taking centre stage, the action quickly escalated into classic Call of Duty fare. Expect explosions, ziplines, car chases, and the familiar thrill of gunfights.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set to launch on 25 October for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC and will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.

The first trailer teased two new playable characters, Candice and Caesar King, who have made their presence through the story campaign.
