Genshin Impact's Version 5.0 update introduces Natlan, the Nation of War, and three new characters

Can you believe it? Genshin Impact was released nearly four years ago. Following its version update 4.8, Genshin Impact is ready to showcase the highly anticipated Version 5.0 update. Hoyoverse has announced that Travelers can expect the new content to arrive on 28 August, bringing a wealth of exciting content to the open-world RPG.

First and foremost, the update, dubbed Flowers Resplendent on the Sun-Scorched Sojourn, introduces Natlan, the sixth major nation of Teyvat. Known as the Nation of Pyro and the Nation of War, Natlan is located west of the Sumeru desert and is divided into six main tribes. Players will be able to explore three of these tribes in Version 5.0, each with its own unique culture and landscape. Check it out in the trailer down below.

In Natlan, one of the most interesting additions is the presence of Saurians - they are dragon-like creatures that have evolved to coexist with humans. Travelers can transform into different types of Saurians, each with unique abilities that aid in exploration. The first one, the Tepetlisaurus excels at tunnelling and climbing. Next up is the Yumkasaurus who can reach great heights. Finally, there’s the Koholasaurus which moves swiftly on water and liquid Phlogiston.

As for new characters, Kachina, Kinich, and Mualani will be joining the roster. Kachina, a four-star Geo polearm user, can be recruited for free by completing Act I of Natlan’s Archon Quest. Mualani, a five-star Hydro catalyst user can surf on water and even dry land using her Sharky Surfboard. Finally, Kinich is a five-star Dendro Claymore wielder who is known for his hunting skills and grappling hook abilities. 

One thing to note is that Mualani will be available in the first phase of the banner. After a duration of three weeks, the banners will change at the halfway point of the game version on 18 September. Once the update is complete, Kinich will be available for summon.

The update also introduces the Stadium of the Sacred Flame, where the main story unfolds as players participate in a tournament to choose the Champion of each tribe. To access Natlan's Archon Quest, players need to reach Adventure Rank 28 and complete all of Liyue's Archon Quests.

Version 5.0 coincides with Genshin Impact's fourth anniversary, and Hoyoverse is offering plenty of rewards to celebrate. Players can claim up to 10 Intertwined Fates through a special daily login event, receive 1,600 Primogems via in-game mail, and obtain two exclusive gadgets. Additionally, players can invite a free 5-star character from the Standard Wish lineup to their team.

The final part of the update introduces Tribal Chronicles, a new three-act quest system replacing the previous Story Quests. This quest system allows players to explore the lore of each Natlan tribe deeper. The Serenitea Pot will also receive new Natlan-themed additions, expanding players' customisation options.
