OPPO has announced that it is rolling out the AI Eraser tool to all OPPO Reno11 Pro (read our review here), Reno11, and Reno11 F devices with an over-the-air update

Similar to Google’s Magic Eraser and Samsung’s Object Eraser, the OPPO AI Eraser is a photo editing tool within the built-in gallery app. Once a user traces an object in the background, the AI processes the object and removes it while restoring the background behind it.

The demo above showcases BSS (SEVENTEEN) taking a photo with props in the background. By using features inside AI Eraser, users can easily circle unwanted subjects with Smart Lasso, while Paint Over serves as a complement for more precise object removal. Both come with adjustable brush stroke sizes. The demo above uses Smart Lasso to draw around the light and remove it.

Having recently built an AI centre in China, OPPO’s own LLM (large language model), AndesGPT, powers the AI Eraser. This model has 180 billion parameters for dialogue enhancement, personalisation, and more. The AI Eraser is one of the many AI features, such as AI Call Summary and AI Greeting Cards, that will be coming to OPPO phones in the future.
