Back in early November, before all the hubbub about next-gen consoles and "air purifiers" surfaced, Japanese company Drecom made retro gaming headlines by announcing the acquisition and revival of the iconic Wizardry RPG series.

Widely credited as a "grandfather" of the genre, the Wizardry games hold a truly special place in gaming history, and when Drecom said that they were working on the next title, it's only natural that retro gaming fans and RPG aficionados nearly wet their pants in excitement. Well, now they can wet their pants again - Drecom has just released the first video footage of the new game, which has been assigned the temporary title of Wizardry VA.

Admittedly, the footage itself is still rather unpolished, but that's hardly an important factor at this point. Instead, it's the control scheme, classic animations, and old-school gameplay that really brings a nostalgic tear to our eyes, and we can hardly wait to see the end result.

Speaking of which, Drecom hasn't yet unveiled a release date, but what we do know is that it will be available worldwide for both Android and iOS platforms, which isn't surprising considering Drecom's expertise in mobile titles like Disgaea RPG and Digimon ReArise. Furthermore, the company has previously shared that while they're definitely keeping the series' core elements intact, they will be adding in some new gameplay features as well, which will focus on helping players create "their very own adventure".
