Apple is taking another step in its combat against the Covid-19 virus.

The iPhone maker just announced that it will be redirecting 100% of eligible proceeds from (Product)Red purchases to the Global Fund's Covid-19 Response through 30 September. The funds will provide essential support in health systems most threatened by an outbreak, and this in turn will help maintain life-saving HIV and AIDS programmes in Africa.

Apple has been supporting the global fight against the coronavirus outbreak since March. It has committed $15 million to help treat infected patients and help lessen the economic and community impacts. Apple CEO Tim Cook mentioned the company has secured over 20 million face masks through its supply chain and will work with governments around the world to distribute them. In addition, it will be shipping one million face shields to medical workers weekly

The company is also working with Google on Covid-19 contact tracing technology which will be implemented in two stages starting from next month. To help customers in countries that are in lockdown, Apple has made some of its Apple TV+ shows free to watch for a limited time.
