Apple cancels the AirPower wireless charging pad

Apple has canceled the AirPower wireless charging pad. 

In an emailed statement to TechCrunch, Apple says the AirPower cannot achieve the company's high standards and apologize to customers who were looking forward to the launch.

“After much effort, we’ve concluded AirPower will not achieve our high standards and we have cancelled the project. We apologize to those customers who were looking forward to this launch. We continue to believe that the future is wireless and are committed to push the wireless experience forward,” said Dan Riccio, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering in an emailed statement today.

Apple previewed the AirPower in September 2017 and said it would be available in 2018. However, the company never did so as there were reportedly two issues plaguing the AirPower. The issues were related to overheating and complexity of the circuitry. 

Hopes of the AirPower were raised earlier this year when rumors surfaced that the mass production of the wireless charging pad had started. Now that the AirPower is canceled, you might want to consider these alternatives:
