WhizComms, a homegrown Internet service provider (ISP) active since 2016, has entered the 10Gbps ring with its 10Gbps Home Broadband Plan of S$29.99/month for 12 months. It joins rivals like Simba, ViewQwest, StarHub, and MyRepublic in our local ISPs' collective effort to offer 10Gbps connectivity to half a million homes by 2028.
According to its official statement forwarded to media today (11 October 2024), WhizComms’ 10Gbps home broadband uses Singtel as its backbone network provider (and yes, Singtel does have its own rival plans, too).
A particular trait of WhizComms Internet plans (including this 10Gbps one) is that users are expected to have a third-party router from their stash, which differs from most other providers that insist on bundling sometimes unwanted routers that don’t meet its users’ needs.
However, WhizComms does loan an Optical Network Router (ONR) for this 10Gbps plan, which is to be returned to WhizComms when the contract expires.
WhizComms’ guidance said that to take advantage of its 10Gbps plan fully, it’s best to use Cat 6A LAN cables, a wireless router that comes furnished with a 10GbE WAN/LAN port, a 10GbE network switch, and a 10GbE network adapter (compatible with at least Thunderbolt 3 or USB 4). Also, it helps that your endpoint devices are Wi-Fi 6, 6E, and Wi-Fi 7 compatible.
Now we’ve got that aside, let’s take a closer look at the S$29.99/month 10Gbps Home Broadband plan.

A cursory check on WhizComms’ official website tells us that the 10Gbps Home Broadband Plan is a promotion that lasts until 13 October 2024, less than two days from the time of publication. The original price is S$40 a month.
Each plan lasts 12 months, and as part of its promotion, it waives the service activation fee (S$54.50) and the NetLink Trust activation fee (S$61.04). It also offers a complimentary “onsite Wi-Fi audit” service, where the field engineer visits users to identify ideal points to maximise coverage and speed (this requires a router purchase upon sign-up).
Also provided in the deal is the necessary fibre patch cords, ONR power cable, and Ethernet cable.
10Gbps Home Broadband Plan | Cost |
Monthly fee for 10Gbps | S$29.99 (promotional price) |
Duration | 12 months |
12 months subscription cost | S$359.88 |
Additional fees without add-ons | S$54.50 |
Total cost, including fees | S$414.38 |
Averages to: | ~S$34.53/month |
However, customers still have to pay for the WhizComms installation fee (S$54.50 on weekdays, S$70.85 on weeknights, S$81.75 on weekends). Also, if your home is not equipped with fibre networking, the Fibre Termination Point installation fee (S$182.03 for HDB/Condo, S$335.54 for Landed properties) still applies.
Any other T&Cs?
No ISP or telco plan is complete without its long list of caveats and limitations, so we’ve combed the official website to highlight some that you’d want to know. For a complete list of T&Cs, be sure to check the official sources here and here:
- The promotion is valid for new subscribers only.
- Installation of said fibre broadband service must be done by 30 November 2024.
- The plan auto-renews after 12 months at the S$40/month price. That said, customers will receive an expiry notice one month before it expires.
- WhizComms can change the mechanics, terms, and conditions of this promotion without any notice.
