Apple might equip the 2025 MacBook models with a new compact camera module (CCM)

Based on analyst Ming-Chi Kuo's latest investor note, Apple is said to be recruiting Chinese optical lens maker Sunny Optical to supply a new CCM for the MacBooks next year. The current lineup of MacBooks uses 1080p CCMs by LG Innotek and Sharp.

Kuo claims Sunny Optical is the only supplier in Apple's optical component supply chain with the capability to supply CCM and lenses in a single package.

This vertical integration enables a complete imaging system to be integrated into a compact form factor for the 2025 MacBook, which is expected to sport a thinner and lighter design.

If Sunny Optical's supply of CCMs for the 2025 MacBook proceeds smoothly, Kuo believes Apple will also call on the Chinese optical lens maker to be the new CCM supplier for the iPhone and iPad.
