Don't count on Apple releasing refreshed high-end MacBook Pros and Mac mini later this year, says the rumour mill.

Earlier, we reported that Apple is expected to unveil its new M3 chip for Macs in October later this year.

The M3 chip is a huge deal because it's expected to be built on TSMC's new 3nm process. The new processor should yield the new chips significant improvements in performance and efficiency.

In conjunction with the M3 unveil, Apple will also likely announce a new MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and 24-inch iMac

The latest news reaffirms this and also says that those waiting for refreshed high-end 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros will likely have to wait until next year

These Macs will likely feature the M3 Pro and M3 Max chips and it is said that they will launch "by the middle of 2024 at the latest."

This makes sense as the high-end MacBook Pros have typically always been launched a couple of months after Apple announces a new Mac chip.

In addition, because the Mac mini can now be ordered with a "Pro" chip, it's likely any new Mac mini will have to wait until next year too

That said, it's uncertain if we'll get a refreshed Mac mini at all because the word on the street is that Apple does not see it as a device that needs annual refreshes.

Even without updated high-end MacBooks Pro and Mac mini, it looks like Apple will still have a strong lineup of new products this year's holiday season. Apple is also expected to unveil new iPhones sometime in September.
