Word on the street is that Apple is working on a large foldable device that would have an 18.8-inch foldable display.

It has been described as a cross between an iPad and a Mac. And today, analyst Jeff Pu from the investment firm GF Securities said that he believes the device will run macOS, and not iPadOS.

If true, it could mean that Apple is open to the idea of touch-screen Macs. Currently, there isn't a Mac that comes with a touchscreen display. Furthermore, Apple has repeatedly said in the past that macOS isn't optimised for touch and they don't intend for Macs and iPads to converge.

Pu’s prediction aligns somewhat with an earlier report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who said that iOS 19 and macOS Sequoia 16 would feature significant design changes that could herald new hardware, including “foldable devices and touch-screen Macs”.

Don’t get too excited, however, because Apple is only expected to launch these devices in late 2026 or 2027.
