Rumours say Apple will significantly redesign both iOS and macOS.
According to reports, Apple will make both iOS and macOS look and feel more like visionOS, the Vision Pro’s operating system.
To that end, users can expect a drastic redesign and new look for both iOS and macOS. VisionOS stands out for its heavy use of rounded graphics, translucency, and 3D elements, which could be incorporated into iOS and MacOS.
The latest report, from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, said:
The revamp — due later this year — will fundamentally change the look of the operating systems and make Apple's various software platforms more consistent, according to people familiar with the effort. That includes updating the style of icons, menus, apps, windows and system buttons.
Earlier this year, it was rumoured that the Camera app would be redesigned and that its interface would be heavily inspired by visionOS. This could be part of the larger iOS redesign.

The move to redesign both iOS and macOS seems plausible for several reasons. iOS hasn't had a major UI overhaul for a long time. Furthermore, aligning the look of both iOS and macOS to what is arguably Apple's most modern OS – visionOS – makes sense as the company continues to tout the Vision Pro as the computer of the future. This will help users feel more comfortable with visionOS if and when Vision Pro headsets become more mainstream.
Happily, we won’t have to wait too long to find out if these rumours are true. Apple is expected to unveil iOS 19 and macOS 16 at WWDC later this year, which should take place sometime in early June.
