Apple is reportedly working on a cheaper MacBook to enter the low-cost laptop market that’s currently dominated by Chromebooks. And according to rumours, Apple could launch this MacBook as soon as next month. As we approach its imminent launch, a couple more details have surfaced about this MacBook.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple could spice things up by launching this new affordable MacBook in a variety of “playful colours.” The company has reportedly tested colours such as light yellow, light green, blue, and pink. However, it’s unclear at this point what the final colour options will be.
Gurman also said that Apple will not cut corners when it comes to build quality and is insisting on using an aluminium chassis for this new MacBook. But in order to keep costs under control, it has developed a new manufacturing process that will enable shells for the new MacBook to be produced more cost-effectively.
The new low-cost MacBook is widely expected to have a display that’s just under 13 inches and will be powered by an iPhone-class chip – likely the A18 Pro used in the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max. Reports also say that it will cost under US$1,000.
