It's been a while since Apple put out an external display for its Macs.

Apple could refresh the almost three-year-old Studio Display in the latter half of the year.
Ross Young, the CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), shared on X that Apple could unveil a 27-inch Mini LED display towards the end of the year.
Young says the 27-inch Mini LED display could be a refreshed Apple Studio Display. Since the 2022 Apple Studio Display uses an LED panel, the switch to Mini LED should be considered a significant upgrade.
To put it briefly, Mini LED is often superior to standard LED displays because it uses many more tiny LED backlights to light up the display. It controls light better, which results in deeper blacks and a greater contrast ratio.
It's a surprising u-turn from Ross, who said back in April 2023 that Apple has "killed off" a 27-inch display project after Bloomberg shared in December 2022 that Apple is working on "multiple new external monitors" which are powered by Apple Silicon.
There is also a possibility that the 27-inch Mini LED display uses a panel supplied by LG Display as it is reportedly developing three standalone panels based on the 24-inch iMac, 27-inch iMac, and a 32-inch replacement for the Pro Display XDR.
