Everybody knows that Google is feverishly at work redesigning the Google Glass. We even mentioned about Google hiring staff for its Glass team in May. The Google Glass is far from being dead, with the next version of it coming out soon.
9to5Google is reporting that Google is hard at work on a new variant of the Google Glass. While it's not the Google Glass 2 many are hoping for, the new Google Glass will be a step up from the older model. Right now it's being dubbed the 'Enterprise Edition' or Google Glass EE. The previous Google Glass was dubbed the 'Explorer Edition'.
The new Google Glass will feature a host of new improvements, including a bigger prism display. The prism display is the screen on the upper right of the device, where all the info is displayed. A bigger prism display will allow users to easily glance at the data being displayed. Previously, users had to glance to the upper right corner to view the data. The new, bigger prism display now only needs the user to glance up, which should be a tad less strenuous.
Another new improvement is that the Google Glass EE will be foldable, just like normal spectacles.
The Enterprise Edition of the Google Glass will also have a longer battery life, be more water and damage resistant, have better heat management and be equipped with an Intel Atom processor. It also might have Wi-Fi support in the form of Wireless 802.11a/b/g/n/ac standard on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
9to5Google's sources claim that unlike the earlier version, the Enterprise Edition will not be available for consumers. Like its Enterprise moniker suggests, the Google Glass EE will only be available for Google's Glass for Work partners.
Expect Google to officially unveil the Google Glass EE soon.
