WhatsApp for iPad is now live. This is not a drill. Image: WhatsApp (Meta).
WhatsApp has finally done the unthinkable. After 16 years of existence and 15 years since the very first iPad, the messaging app finally has a version made for Apple’s tablets.
WhatsApp, now for iPad
According to Meta (the company running Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Meta AI), WhatsApp for iPad isn’t just its messenger and video call services on a bigger screen (even though that’s a really good reason in itself).
WhatsApp for iPad is compatible with iPadOS’s multitasking tools like Stage Manager, Split View, and it also works with Apple hardware like Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil (as it should). To see what these iPad-specific features are, check out our latest iPad reviews and buying guide.
Features-wise, it's congruent with everything available on regular phone WhatsApp. You can look up all the important features for this app in our regular coverage here.
All that’s left now is for the other popular Meta app, Instagram, to have a dedicated iPad version as well.
