Research firm Omida thinks Apple will ship over 8 million iPad Pros this year.

According to a report, the total shipment of OLED displays for tablets will exceed 12 million units this year. Out of this number, 8.12 million units are believed to be hybrid OLED displays – a type of display which only the new iPad Pro uses.

To recap, Apple’s latest iPad Pro features a new type of OLED display that the company calls tandem OLED. Essentially, it stacks two OLED panels on top of each other to boost brightness while extending panel lifespan.

The report further says that Samsung Display – one of the two companies responsible for producing the tandem OLED display – is expanding its production capacity to cope with demand.

However, another report from Trendforce is less optimistic and predicts Apple will only ship between 4.5 and 5 million iPad Pros this year.

Regardless, the new iPad Pro has been mostly well received by reviewers and customers, with many praising its new display and design, as well as its excellent performance. However, issues remain, mostly with the restrictions and quirks of having to work with iPadOS. Hopefully, Apple will address this at WWDC 2024.
