Xiaomi Redmi 2 launch confirmed for 17th March
Putting to rest the many rumors about its release date and specs, we can now confirm that Xiaomi's Redmi 2 will be launching in Singapore on 17th March (next Tuesday) at 12PM for $169 - the same price as the current Redmi 1S. The version launching in Singapore will be the standard 1GB version with 8GB internal storage.

The version launching in Singapore will be the standard 1GB version with 8GB internal storage.
The Redmi 2 that will be launching in Singapore will have a 4.7-inch, 720p IPS screen, an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2MP front camera, dual 4G micro-SIM card slots, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core 1.2GHz SoC, with 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage and expandable storage up to 32GB.
As for the Enhanced Redmi 2 with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, Xiaomi says that "The Redmi 2 Enhanced Edition was a special run of 100,000 devices that we sold during Chinese New Year in China. We don’t have any plans to launch it in Singapore at this point in time."
