TSMC, not Samsung, is likely to secure the bulk of Qualcomm's future Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 orders (Qualcomm's most recent launch is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2).

While Qualcomm typically engages TSMC and Samsung to manufacture its mobile platforms, TSMC is said to be in the lead this time due to the high yield rate of 80%. On the other hand, Samsung has a significantly lower yield rate of 20%.

TSMC recently started the mass production of 3nm chips. As Apple is the biggest client, some of the 3nm chips will be used for the upcoming 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. TSMC Chairman Mark Liu reportedly said the 3nm process will deliver better performance with 35% less power consumption compared to the existing 5nm process.
