The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is expected to ship with one of the four recently unveiled ISOCELL sub-brands, the ISOCELL Dual. While a document prepared for investors and shareholders shed some light on its capabilities, we still did not know the full range of capabilities it is capable of. That is no longer a problem as Samsung's own website has revealed all the features of the dual-camera module.
The dual-camera module from Samsung Electro-Mechanics is actually as powerful as the rumors have suggested; informational material on the website shows that the dual-camera module is able to take in more light than a single camera module and produce brighter photos.

Similar to the iPhone 7 Plus, the Samsung dual-camera is able to capture 3D depth information and allows the user to achieve several effects such as refocus, background effect and perspective view.

The dual-camera module is also able to offer 3x optical zoom and high dynamic range. This should give the Galaxy Note 8 a slight edge over the 2x optical zoom on the iPhone 7 Plus.

Judging from these information, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is right to state that the dual-camera module is "the most important upgrade" in the Galaxy Note 8. The Galaxy Note 8 will be announced on 23 August in New York. You can catch up on the leaks and rumors in our roundup article.
