Dual rear cameras said to be the "most important upgrade" in the Galaxy Note 8

Samsung could equip the Galaxy Note 8 with dual rear cameras that can put the Apple iPhone 7 Plus to shame.

While the Galaxy S8 and S8+ do not have dual rear cameras, it is highly likely to appear on the Galaxy Note 8.

KGI Securities analyst  Ming-Chi Kuo, who is well-known for his accurate predictions on Apple's products, shares in his latest investor notes that the Galaxy Note 8 will be Samsung's first dual-camera smartphone. Calling it "the most important upgrade" in the Galaxy Note 8, Kuo believes the dual rear cameras consist of a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 13-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. Both sensors will have optical image stabilization and six-element lens

In comparison, the Apple iPhone 7 Plus has a pair of 12-megapixel cameras on the rear; a wide angle lens and a telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. Only the primary wide angle lens has optical image stabilization.

Kuo believes the dual rear cameras of the Galaxy Note 8 will be "much better than that of the iPhone 7 Plus, and likely match of the OLED iPhone". Samsung was previously rumored to be working on a dual-camera module for the Galaxy S8, but the project was cancelled as the company felt that there was "no real value for it yet".
