Samsung may have a temporary fix to prevent your Galaxy Note7 from exploding
For the safety of its customers, Samsung is said to be rolling out a temporary software update which will limit the maximum battery charge capacity. Read on to find out more!
With the FAA and several airlines around the world urging consumers not to use the Galaxy Note7, Samsung is also doing everything it can to ensure the safety of its customers. The Korea Times reports that Samsung will be rolling out a software update over-the-air to all Galaxy Note7s which will limit the maximum charge capacity.
Designed as a temporary safety measure to minimize the risk of the battery exploding, the software update will only allow the Galaxy Note7 to get no more than 60% of its total battery capacity. This means that the Galaxy Note7 can be charged up to a maximum of 2,100mAh. The full battery capacity of the device is 3,500mAh.
Samsung Mobile Singapore issued an advisory on its Facebook page last Saturday urging all Note7 customers to power down their devices and have them exchanged as soon as possible. The local exchange program will begin this Friday, 16th September and ends on 2nd October.
