The latest rumour indicates that Samsung could unveil its thinnest foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim next month.

According to The Chosun Daily, industry sources claim the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim could launch around 25 September. As the name suggests, the Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim will be Samsung's thinnest foldable in the lineup.

It is believed to have a thickness of 10mm, which would make it 2.1mm or around 17% thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold6

Additionally, the Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim is stated to have a 6.5-inch cover display (0.2 inches bigger than the Z Fold6) and an 8.0-inch main display (0.4 inches bigger than the Z Fold6). Unlike the Galaxy Z Fold6, the Z Fold6 Slim will not support the S Pen

Samsung's move to launch its thinnest foldable smartphone outside of its usual release windows signals that the company is eager to compete and get a head start in the slim phone race.

Analysts believe there is an impending industry shift from bigger displays to thinner form factors as consumers prefer lighter and more portable devices. Apple is reportedly working on an iPhone 17 Slim model for release next year while Huawei is expected to announce its triple-folding phone next month

Moreover, Apple is likely to announce the iPhone 16 in the second week of September. Samsung could steal some limelight away from the iPhone 16 with the Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim. However, the availability of the Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim is said to be limited to the Korean and Chinese markets, at least at first.
