Popular smartphone teardown YouTuber Zack Nelson, the face of his JerryRigEverything channel, has finally graced us with his tell-all, hyper-destructive teardown of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6.

The teardown process gave us insight into the phone's durability, which exceeded our expectations. It survived the initial bend test, where the Galaxy Z Fold6 kept its inner Main Screen intact and functional even when it was bent beyond its typical folding range.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6's cover screen (outer display) remained working and functional, even after the teardown process completely unravelled the Main Screen (inner display) by removing the screen protector, plastic coating, the Ultra-Thin Glass, and AMOLED layers below (at the 6-minute 8-second mark, there was even an accidental snag on a display ribbon that resulted in a small fire).

The device’s hinge also remained relatively dirt-free even after an intense bout with sand and tearing down to check for grime (there was some, but it’s not completely caked in the stuff).

In the later half of the video, the YouTuber discusses the placement of its key hardware components, such as its audio speakers, cameras, USB-C port, and battery.

JerryRigEverything’s videos are always cathartic to watch. One primary reason is that we (at HWZ) are generally expected to keep phones as intact as possible whenever we review them. That doesn’t leave us any opportunity to conduct destructive tests, such as deliberate water immersion or bending beyond regular use in the case of foldable phones. The other reason is that watching these videos allows us to learn more about the devices beyond the teardowns officially shared by the brand.
