Yes, Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra’s S Pen is just as smelly as before
Of all the features Samsung could’ve removed, this one stayed. #samsung #galaxys25ultra

While Samsung removed the battery component (and its related features) in the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s S Pen stylus, the company did not remove the one thing that would have mattered: the smell.
This discovery was prompted by the noble sacrifice made by Android Authority, where its reviewers and editorial team not only smelt but also licked the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s S Pen.
If you recall, Samsung had to address the stink emanating from its S Pen during the launch of the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the predecessor of the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The Korean tech company previously said that the warm internals of its phone and the proximity of the S Hole (S Pen holster) warms the S Pen’s plastic, giving its distinct aroma.
It’s likely unchanged since then.
Does the Galaxy S25 Ultra really have a smell?

Since we’re in the midst of reviewing the Galaxy S25 Ultra, it didn’t take very much to find out for ourselves.
Even without the phone’s warmth, the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s S Pen has a strong, yet localised scent reminiscent of a plastic mold factory. It smells exactly like fresh LEGO, but the S Pen’s scent is several times stronger and feels raw to the nostrils.
We’re also sure that the smell is unique to the stylus, because the holster (S Hole) had no hint of its plasticky gaminess.
While it's utterly unrelated to the scent, you can buy the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra at S$1,828 (256GB) in Singapore. Check out our pricing article here for all the details.
PS: Do not stick the S Pen inside your noses when testing out the phones at Samsung's New Bahru pop-up event. This stunt was performed by professionals with absolutely zero supervision.
