Samsung might upgrade one of the telephoto cameras on the S24 Ultra, but the cameras alone might not be the star of the next Galaxy. #galaxys24ultra #samsung #telephoto

Contrary to an earlier rumour about Samsung ditching one telephoto lens on the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the latest report paints a different picture.
Citing information from camera suppliers, Korean publication TheElec claims the Galaxy S24 Ultra will sport the following:-
- 200MP main camera
- 12MP ultra-wide camera
- 50MP 5x telephoto camera
- 10MP 10x telephoto camera
Compared to the Galaxy S23 Ultra, this is a modest upgrade of the existing 3x telephoto camera to a 5x telephoto camera.
Earlier this year, reliable tipster @UniverseIce shared that Samsung could ditch the 3x telephoto camera for a continuous periscope zoom lens that offers intermediate zoom ranges (e.g., 4x, 7x, 9x). With reports of AI features powering the Galaxy S24 lineup, it could involve advanced computational photography to enhance image quality at these zoom ranges. In fact, because the camera upgrades aren't as apparent, the AI-based advancements could be the headline takeaway for consumers to look forward to.
For the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+, TheElec says they will get a 50MP main camera with a 12MP ultra-wide camera and 10MP 3x telephoto camera. The camera hardware is similar to the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+.
Samsung is said to be holding a launch event for the Galaxy S24 on 17 January 2024 with pre-orders slated to start on 19 January and islandwide availability from 30th January.
