The Samsung Galaxy F smartphone is caught in the wild by a reader of PhoneArena.

According to its source, the phone featured in the photos is a pre-production model and runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor. It is likely that the final retail version will be powered by the newer Snapdragon 805 chipset.

The phone is said to be slightly smaller than the Galaxy S5 with slimmer bezels and is rated IP67 for water/dust resistance. Samsung is reportedly using a brushed metal rear cover for the Galaxy F although it is hard to verify this in the photos. It is possible that Samsung may use a material that looks and feels like metal, which is similar to what we've seen from the "metallic skin" of the LG G3.

It is speculated that Samsung will launch the Galaxy F in September to compete against the Apple iPhone 6. The Korea Herald previously reported that Samsung will make an announcement sometime this month.
