For the past year, we have been referring to the new iPhone models as the iPhone 7s, 7s Plus and iPhone 8. However, that might not be the case as two publications have heard from different sources on the official names of the upcoming iPhone models.
Seth Weintraub, from 9to5Mac, was at IFA 2017 and heard from some case makers that the upcoming iPhone models will be called the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone Edition. The case makers apparently have started printing packaging for their cases with these names. Earlier in March, Japanese blog Macotakara claimed that the premium iPhone model might be called the iPhone Edition.
A reliable source of iCulture disagrees with the naming of the premium iPhone model. iCulture believes the premium iPhone model will be called iPhone X. According to its source, the upgrades for the other two iPhone models are too drastic for Apple to stick with the "S" naming convention. The source also added that pre-orders will start on 15 September with the phones shipping on 22 September.
