OPPO announced the Find X8 series in the Chinese market via an in-person and online keynote held in Chengdu, China. The company unveiled its flagship 2025 Android phone series to its local and global user base.

In a nutshell, OPPO unveiled all the key details about its Find X8 series, albeit in its native Standard Chinese language, and also teased a global launch for its flagship handsets — a first in a while.

The entire keynote was a little more than two hours long. Since few people have time for that, we’ve condensed its key points below.

Note: The information sourced is translated from the keynote speaker's native tongue to English, with no extra wages accorded to the effort undertaken by HWZ's Editorial team. There may be some naming inaccuracies. We will update the article when OPPO confirms the details with their official English counterpart.

The OPPO Find X8 series consists of two main models: the OPPO Find X8 and the OPPO Find X8 Pro.

The Pro variant is larger, with a 6.78-inch display (and 5,910mAh battery), while the slightly smaller Find X8 has a 6.59-inch panel (and 5,630mAh battery).

Both models contain a massive battery capacity (relative to the typical 5,000mAh Android flagship phones). Despite their battery sizes, they are relatively portable: Find X8 Pro weighs 215g and is 8.24mm thin, while Find X8 weighs just 193g and is 7.85mm thin.

The OPPO Find X8 series largely resembles Apple’s iPhone 16 design but has a 1.45mm bezel wrapped around its display to accentuate its aesthetics and viewing experience. OPPO said this was achieved through “chip-level display packing technology" to minimise space wastage between the frame and the AMOLED panel.

Camera improvements

To reduce the size of its rear camera island, OPPO also created an “inverted periscope” telephoto camera for both models. The Find X8 Pro's camera housing, in particular, saw a 33% thickness reduction.

With this new periscope telephoto lens design, the OPPO Find X8 gets a 50MP 3x telephoto, while the Find X8 Pro gets two telephoto cameras (like the Find X7 Ultra) that can do 6x optical and 13.3x in-sensor zoom.

OPPO also lowered the skill floor for photography with its new “shadowless snapshot” feature.

In essence, the upgrades to the camera system’s response time and image processing method increase stability in its final output, and the camera is ready within 0.4 seconds of being whipped out.

It’s also compatible with OPPO’s HDR and bokeh tunings, on top of Live Photos support.

Its Hasselblad partnership is ongoing, and the Find X8 series will receive three new filters that emulate Hasselblad film styles from its film photography heritage: NC, CC, and NH.

AI smarts

Photography AI tuning includes defect removal, which addresses glare and smears, as well as AI denoising and photobomb removal.

OPPO’s built-in AI is also capable of creating social media captions once it detects uploading to popular social media platforms like Xiaohongshu. However, it’s unclear if this feature applies only to China-only phone variants.

The built-in AI can also summarise calls, meeting minutes, and documents (the latter also gets translation).

According to OPPO, its AI is both on-device and cloud-based, with privacy guarantees; OPPO claimed it has no access to user data generated by AI processing.

The series has a flagship-grade MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset inside, and OPPO has optimised its performance with added cooling hardware and CPU allocation algorithms.

The display on both models has a 120Hz refresh rate, 4,500-nits peak brightness, and support for Dolby Vision and OPPO’s ProXDR dynamic range.

Both models also get 80W wired SuperVOOC and 50W wireless AirVOOC charging, as well as magnetic charging, similar to the MagSafe attachment on iPhones. This was originally teased in early October.

Finally, the phone will be running ColorOS 15, although it’s unclear if it’s based on Android 14 or 15.

Is the OPPO Find X8 series coming to Singapore?

OPPO also said that the Find X8 series is getting a global launch, with its Indonesian HQ teasing via Twitter/X a November 2024 launch and a pre-order period ending on 10 November (replete with a Labubu blind box for Indonesian early birds).

Putting this together meant we’re staring down a mid-November 2024 global phone announcement.

This marks the first time OPPO has given the Singapore market some hope since 2022. Back then, OPPO stopped with the Find X5 Pro launch (review here) and merely teased us with China-only versions of the Find X6 Pro (hands-on here) and the Find X7 Ultra (hands-on here). Only time will tell if it’s officially coming to our sunny island — fingers crossed.
