New iPhones to come with 3GB RAM and Lightning ports with fast charging?
Cowen and Company analyst Timothy Arcuri shares his predictions on the upcoming iPhone models.
Cowen and Company analyst Timothy Arcuri shares some of his predictions on the upcoming three iPhone models.
Arcuri expects all three iPhone models to come with 3GB RAM although storage options will vary for the iPhone 7s/7s Plus and the more premium iPhone model (also known as the iPhone Edition). While the iPhone 7s/7s Plus are said to retain the current storage options (32/128/256GB), the iPhone Edition is likely to be available in 64GB and 256GB storage options. The iPhone Edition will reportedly come with two packs of batteries within its chassis, which will result in it having a longer battery life than the 7s/7s Plus.
Similar to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo's predictions, Arcui also states that Apple will continue to use Lightning ports for the three new iPhone models. In addition, they will support fast charging. Arcui's estimates are slightly different from TrendForce, which reported in February that the iPhone 7s will only have 2GB RAM.
Apple may delay the launch of the new iPhones to October or November due to "technical issues related to the lamination process of curved OLED panels" and the adoption of a 3D sensing system. The iPhone Edition is said to cost over US$1,000.
