MediaTek has announced a launch event for its next-generation flagship chipset.

In a 12-second video uploaded on Weibo, MediaTek teases the flagship chipset's features which include its CPU, GPU, NPU, and 5G connectivity. Also, it confirms that the event will be held on 9 October.

Likely to be called the Dimensity 9400, it is said to have four Cortex-A725 CPU cores clocked at 2.10GHz, three Cortex-X4 CPU operating at 2.80GHz, one Cortex-X925 CPU running at 3.63GHz, and the Arm's Immortalis-G925 MC12 GP.

Vivo and OPPO are tipped to be among the first to announce devices powered by this new chipset. These Dimensity 9400-powered devices could include the Vivo X200, X200+, X200 Pro and X200 Pro Satellite Communication Version; and from OPPO, the Find X8, X8 Pro, and X8 Pro Satellite Communication Version.

MediaTek's decision to hold the event on 9 October is interesting because that's just ahead of Qualcomm's annual Snapdragon Summit where the latter is expected to debut the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 platform.
