LeEco new Le Max2 model touts 128GB on-board storage with 6GB RAM

LeEco’s smartphone division announced an updated model of LeEco Le Max2 smartphone at MWC Shanghai 2016.

LeEco said that the latest Le Max2 “superphone” will come with 6GB RAM and 128GB built-in storage, which tops the 6GB RAM with 64GB storage option launched in May 2016. The 6GB RAM option appears to be a trend with Android smartphones as of late. Earlier, ASUS announced the ZenFone 3 Deluxe with 6GB RAM. So did OnePlus, with their latest OnePlus 3.

Besides the boost in memory, the Le Max2 comes with Qualcomm’s current flagship processor – Snapdragon 820 SoC. The preceding Le Max phone uses a Snapdragon 810, which was also Qualcomm’s flagship SoC back in its time.

Smartphone users who enjoy high resolution displays would be in for a treat, as the Le Max2 comes with a 5.7-inch Quad HD IPS LCD screen (at 2,560 x 1,440 pixels resolution). The previous model also came with a Quad HD display, but it was sized at a larger 6.33-inches. A 5.7-inch form factor not only makes the phone friendlier to pockets, as pixel density also got a slight boost (from ~464 PPI to ~515 PPI, although the difference might not be noticeable with the naked eye). To support the display’s run-time, the Le Max2 comes with a 3,100mAh battery capacity.

There are no further announcements indicating local pricing or availability of the Le Max2 phone, but it will retail at RMB 2,799 (~S$565.50) exclusively to China. LeEco phones also have a massive market presence in India, and getting the phone in Singapore would likely mean going through websites that carry grey import sets.
