The Apple iPhone 11 continues to sell very well despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to Omdia's Smartphone Model Market Tracker, the iPhone 11 was the world's most shipped smartphone in the first half of the year. Apple managed to ship 37.7 million units of the iPhone 11. The iPhone 11 has been a hot seller for Apple since its launch. Apple CEO Tim Cook shared in January that the iPhone 11 was the best-selling iPhone every week of the holiday quarter.
In fact, Omdia claims the iPhone 11 sold more than the iPhone XR during the same period a year ago. The iPhone XR managed to clinch 6th position with 8 million units. The Samsung Galaxy A51 came in second with 11.4 million units shipped, followed by the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 at 11 million.
The iPhone SE (2020), iPhone 11 Pro Max and iPhone 11 Pro were ranked 5th, 7th and 10th position respectively. Omdia believes consumer anxiety over the economic slowdown due to Covid-19 and demand for a smaller-sized iPhone drove the sales of the iPhone SE (2020). Shipments of the iPhone 11 Pro Max and 11 Pro fell compared to the iPhone XS Max and XS.
With Apple expected to launch four new iPhone 12 models next month, it would be another interesting year ahead to see how these models fare.
