Google Pixel 8a comes to Singapore at S$799
More top-end features from its flagship series are now on Google’s midrange alternative.

The Google Pixel 8a was officially announced today, just a week before the company’s annual developer conference, Google I/O.
More flagship features in a midrange phone

A big draw of Google’s A-series phones was that they used the same chipset as its headlining mobile phones, ensuring similar performance no matter the price. Google Pixel 8a uses the same chip found in Google Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, called Tensor G3.
The deal is sweetened now by inheritance: Pixel 8a gets similar, if not identical, flagship niceties beyond a fancy AI processor.
The phone offers IP67 water-and-dust resistance, which is nearly the same protection offered by Google’s flagship counterparts. Pixel 8a also has Actua Display with the same 1080p resolution quality and 120Hz refresh rate as the Pixel 8, but it’s also smaller than the other two at 6.1 inches.
You can also expect the same suite of Pixel’s AI features on Pixel 8a, so you’re not losing out on cutting-edge photo tools like Magic Editor, Best take, Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, as well as tools like Gemini, Live Translate, and the relatively new Circle to Search (it’s a long list of AI features).
Despite its midrange classification, Pixel 8a also gets seven years of OS and security updates, along with Feature Drops (additional software-based features) every few months.
The dual rear cameras consist of a 64MP main and 13MP ultrawide. The main camera also offers Super Res Zoom up to 8x, but doesn’t have the “2x Optical Quality” in-sensor zoom like its flagship Pixel 8. However, the AI editing features are still intact.
Of course, some components are pared down to better fit its midrange categorisation, like older Corning Gorilla Glass 3, lower 18W wired charging speed, and the use of a 5Gbps USB-C 3.2 (instead of the 10Gbps 3.2 Gen 2). Google Pixel 8a pre-orders, pricing, and availability in Singapore

The Google Pixel 8a is officially available in Singapore. It is available in 128GB and 256GB configurations, priced at S$799 and S$899, respectively. There are three colours to choose from: Obsidian, Porcelain, and Bay. Official retail begins on 14 May 2024.
You can buy it online from Google Store, Amazon SG, Challenger, Courts, Singtel, Lazada, Shopee, and SprintCass (Airport).
It is also available in physical stores at Challenger, Courts, Singtel, and SprintCass.
Pre-orders are exclusively available via the Google Store. Google is personally offering S$150 Google Store Credit and a free Pixel 8a case (worth $49.90) with every purchase of the Pixel 8a. The pre-order promo also runs through its retail launch period.
