Google I/O 2024 will take place on 14 May 2024

Google has announced the start date for its annual Google I/O developer-focused conference. This year, it is scheduled to start on 14 May 2024. In Singapore’s time, it will be the 15 May 2024, 1 am.

According to the Google I/O web page, the keynote will be held “in front of a small live audience” and live-streamed globally, online. 

Although no specifics were provided about what will be featured at this year’s event, based on last year’s conference, the multi-day event typically covers developer-centric improvements that will eventually reach real-world products, services, and experiences related to Google. This year, we can expect more details about Android 15 (which has already started developer previews) and updates to Gemini. There's also a good chance the Pixel 8a will be announced too.

At last year’s conference, we saw the global launch of Gemini (formerly known as Bard) the generative AI chatbot, Android 14, the partnership between Google and the Singapore Tourism Board as well as new privacy, safety, and security updates among a host of consumer product launches like the Pixel Fold and Google Pixel Tablet.
