Besides announcing new Pixel devices, Google also shared its latest privacy, safety and security features across its services.
To help users assess the reliability of online visual content, Google is rolling out "About This Image" option to provide important context (e.g. when is the image first indexed by Google, where else it's been seen online).
Google is also expanding the Content Safety API to include potential child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in video content. Google's AI technology is used to classify and prioritise the review of potential CSAM images.
In addition to enabling passkey sign-in on its platform, Google's Safe Browsing uses AI to identify and alert users to dangerous sites and files. The latest Safe Browsing API speeds up the company's ability to check and identify compromised sites and block an additional 25% phishing attempts in Chrome and Android.
The Spam view in Google Drive is enhanced with a new view to make it easier for users to separate and review files.
For Gmail users in the U.S., Google is expanding access to its dark web report for them to check if their email addresses appear on the dark web. If they do, guidance will be offered to protect themselves. Google has plans to expand access to its dark web report to select international markets.
For location data in Android 14, Google will inform users in permission requests when an app shares information with third parties for advertising purposes. Users can decide to approve or decline location sharing for each app.
There is also a new "Data deletion" area within the app's Google Play Data Safety section for users to easily delete their data. Users can also delete recent searches on Google Maps.
