CMF by Nothing has finally announced its second generation of mobile products. Leading the charge is the CMF Phone 2 Pro, which brings back much of its familiar strangeness and is bolted together to take on 2025 midrange alternatives with pizzaz.

The announcement was made via a livestream through its physical launch keynote in India, which you can watch in full here.

CMF Phone 2 Pro builds upon its unique personalisation slant with more hardware and software upgrades beyond its debut mobile, CMF Phone 1 (review here)

As a sub-brand of Nothing, the new CMF phone retains its rebellious streak by keeping its personalisation quirks, yet offers a little more in organising your life beyond simply work and play.

CMF Phone 2 Pro reduced its profile to 7.8mm (versus its previous Phone 1’s 8.2mm thickness), while mildly upgrading its dust resistance with a new IP54 rating (up from IP52). The change in thickness meant that the previous accessories might not be compatible, and Phone 2 Pro gets its own official slate of add-ons (Universal Cover, Lanyard, etc.).

The phone packs a 6.77-inch Flexible AMOLED panel rated at 2,392 x 1,080 pixels resolution (Full HD), replete with HDR10+ support, and smooth playback + response guarantees like 120Hz refresh rate and 1,000Hz touch sampling rate. A key upgrade is that the bezels around the display are now symmetrical, with no excess “chin” at the bottom. The screen is also now brighter, with typical, outdoor, and peak brightness at 800-, 1,300-, and 3,000-nits, respectively.

Despite its low-cost categorisation, CMF Phone 2 Pro offers triple rear cameras to cover a wide range of focal points. The brand said it uses the same 50MP main camera found on the Nothing Phone (3a) (review here), alongside a 50MP telephoto camera to give the phone 2x optical and 20x digital zoom. The third is an 8MP ultrawide to round off the collection, and it’s further supported by a 16MP front camera for selfies and video calls. CMF also offers an optional (separately purchased) Fish Eye and Macro lens attachment that you can use with its rear cameras.

To enhance its imaging capabilities, CMF Phone 2 Pro contains 22 algorithms and several presets to cover both imaging science and personal styles.

The phone keeps its familiar and customisable Nothing OS interface, but CMF Phone 2 Pro adds Essential Space. The feature helps users save content and thoughts in one single place, triggered by the physical Essential Key side button.

The brand said the new phone has future support, up to three years of major Android updates and six years of security patches.
