Recent rumours suggest that ASUS could be launching a FE variant of the ROG Phone 9 Pro series, and the latest leak seems to confirm the existence of this model.

91Mobiles published several purported photos and specs of the ASUS ROG Phone 9 FE. While it looks similar to its flagship siblings, the FE model is a notch below in some specs.

While the ROG Phone 9 Pro series is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, the ROG Phone 9 FE is said to be equipped with 2024's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

The FE model matches the ROG Phone 9 Pro in memory with 16GB RAM, but comes with half the internal storage capacity at 256GB. It sports a similar-sized Full HD+ LTPO 165Hz display at 6.78-inches with peak brightness at 2,500 nits.

In terms of mobile imaging, the ASUS ROG Phone 9 FE comes with a less powerful main camera (50MP Sony IMX890 with OIS vs 50MP Sony Lytia 700 on the Pro series), a 13MP ultra-wide camera, and a 5MP macro camera (vs 32MP telephoto camera on the Pro series).

Battery capacity is slightly smaller at 5,500mAh compared to the Pro series' 5,800mAh. Other purported specs include stereo speakers, 3.5mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi 7 support, IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, and an in-display fingerprint sensor).

With the ROG Phone 9 Pro series retailing from S$1,599, we reckon the FE model to be priced closer to the S$1,000 mark.
