It is a struggle for many handset makers to survive these days as Apple takes the lion share of the industry's operating profits, but one company managed to generate profits last month.

According to DigiTimes, Taiwanese computer hardware and electronics company ASUS managed to generate profits in May from the shipment of over 1.5 million handsets. ASUS expects the shipment to increase to two million by the end of June.

Apparently, much of the success is attributed to the ZenFone 2 series which recently hit retail shelves in the U.S and Singapore. The sales momentum is likely to grow in July when the recently announced ZenFone Selfie and ZenPad tablets are available for purchase. ASUS targets to ship between 8 to 10 million tablet devices this year.
