Sony expects to lose S$432 million on mobile devices alone this year
Sony has published its financial report for FY2014 and while overall the company isn't looking too bad, with an operating profit of ¥68.5 billion (~S$759 million), things don't look too good for Sony Mobile, who recorded an operating loss of ¥220 billion (~S$2.4 billion) last year.
Despite strong showings from its Xperia range (like the Z3 and Z3 compact pictured), Sony Mobile lost ¥220 billion last year.
Sony has published its financial report for FY2014 and while overall the company isn't looking too bad, with an operating profit of ¥68.5 billion (~S$759 million), things don't look too good for Sony Mobile, who recorded an operating loss of ¥220 billion (~S$2.4 billion) last year.
Sony expects mobile revenue to fall by a further 7.1 percent this coming FY and predicts a loss of ¥39 billion (S$432 million).
Only two of Sony's properties are expected to bring increased revenue this year, its devices unit (semi conductors and imaging sensors) and its movie business, which look to raise profits by 16.5 and 16.1 percent respectively.
