Apple's upcoming 4-inch iPhone is not a 6c or 7c

9to5Mac reports that the upcoming 4-inch Apple iPhone model will not be called the iPhone 6c or 7c. Can you guess the likely launch name for the 4-inch iPhone? Read on to find out!

Mark Gurman, who has one of the most reliable sources on Apple's news, claims that the iPhone maker will not be naming the new 4-inch model as the 6c or 7c.

According to his sources, Apple is likely to settle on "iPhone 5se" as the official launch name for the new 4-inch iPhone model. The "se" suffix is described as a "special edition" version of the 4-inch iPhone models before the iPhone 6 family and an "enhanced" variant of the iPhone 5s. In addition, the leaked 40-second video three days ago is said to be fake.

His sources confirm that the iPhone 5se will retain the same design as the iPhone 5s, but will sport better specs such as an A8/M8 chipsets, NFC chip, Bluetooth 4.2, VoLTE support and Live Photos. Similar to the iPhone 6, the iPhone 5se will have an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera and four color options (silver, space gray, gold and rose gold).

As with the iPhone 5c, the motive behind releasing the iPhone 5se is to cater to existing iPhone 5 or earlier users who dislike the bigger screen sizes of the iPhone 6/6 Plus family. Hence, Apple hopes to entice these users to upgrade by retaining the same screen size while updating its specs to support future software upgrades.

The iPhone 5se is reportedly in production now and may hit markets in late March or early April after its rumored announcement in March.
