Apple rumored to delay the launch of wireless charging for the iPhone 8

Prominent Apple blogger John Gruber claims that the launch of wireless charging for the iPhone 8 could be delayed.

The wireless charging feature and accessory for the iPhone 8 might not be ready at launch.

According to prominent Apple blogger John Gruber, he heard that the wireless charging accessory would be sold separately and the feature could be only available at a later date via iOS 11.1 update. This is similar to how Apple rolled out Portrait Mode on the iPhone 7 Plus a month later with the release of iOS 10.1.

Gruber's claim of a wireless charging accessory corroborates KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo's prediction last year that the wireless charger might be sold as an optional accessory. Wireless charging is reportedly a standard feature across the new iPhone models according to Engadget's source and assembler firm Wistron
