Apple to license power management tech and hire 300 staff from Dialog
Apple and Dialog have announced a business agreement where Apple will license power management technology from Dialog in exchange for $300 million upfront payment and another $300 million in purchase agreements over the next three years.
Apple is ramping up efforts to develop more efficient power management and charging by signing a business agreement with Dialog.
While Apple will license Dialog’s power management technology, Dialog will receive $300 million payment upfront and another $300 million in purchase agreements over the next three years. In addition, Apple is hiring 300 Dialog staff to work on its projects.
Earlier this year, Dialog predicted a bleak future as Apple reportedly reduced its orders of power management chips. Apple was also said to be developing its own power management chip to reduce its reliance on Dialog. Dialog hasn’t been sitting idle; it has invested in wireless charging firm Energous two years ago.
