Mass production of OLED panels for the Apple iPhone 16 is ramping up according to a report by TheElec.

While initial production of OLED panels started in June, TheElec claims production has ramped up significantly since last month ahead of a possible launch in September.

Samsung Display is estimated to produce about 80 million OLED panels by the end year while LG Display is expected to supply around half that amount at 43 million panels.

Based on these supply figures, Samsung Display will remain the main supplier of OLED panels for the new iPhones.

Interestingly, LG is also rumoured to be the secondary OLED supplier for the next-generation iPhone SE, in this case playing backup to alleged primary supplier BOE.

Bloomberg reported earlier this week that Apple may announce the iPhone 16 on 10 September.
